１．仁王像のできるまで
Until the statue of Niou
原型 まず、粘土で原型を作ります。Prototype First,make a prototype with clay.
原木 向かって左側の木が材料になりました。
大きなレッドウッドです。
Genboku The tree no the left is the material .
It is a large red wood.
木取り 木の皮や割れなどの使えないところを取り除きます。
木のどの部分を使うか考えます。
・・・まだ、まるで壁のようです。
Kidori Remove unusable parts such as bark and cracks.
Think about which part of hte tree to use.
It is still like a wall.
荒彫り 大きな面で、形を切ります。Arabori Cut a shape with a large surface.
重いので、胸と足それぞれに１ｔのチェーンブロックを使って
持ち上げます。
It's heavy, so use a 1t chain block for each of Niou 's chest and legs.
危険なので、作品の下には、
絶対にいかないように
細心の注意をしながら作業します。
下敷きになったら、大怪我をしてしまいます。
It's dangerous,
so I'll work very carefully under work to make sure I don't go under it.
If it becomes the underlay of Niou , I will be seriously injured.
小作り 原型をもとに、正確に形を整えます。木は、切ったままでは、沢山の水分を含んで
います。そのまま一機に仕上げると、
後でひびが入ってしまうので、
阿像、吽像同時に乾燥の状態を見ながら、
制作を進めます。
仕上げの一歩手前の段階です。Kozukuri I shape it exactly based on the prototype.
The tree contains a lot of water when cut.
If I finish it all at once,it will crack later,
so I will work together while observing dry condition of A-zou and Un-zou.
It is just before the finish.
仕上げ 細かな部分も形が彫り終わり、漆や金箔で彩色し、天衣を合わせて
全体を確認します。
Siage The fine parts have been carved and colored with lacquer or gold leaf,
Check the whole thing by putting on Teni.
